CAN UNMARRIED DISABLED FAMILY QUALIFY FOR DESPERATELY NEEDED PUBLIC HOUSING / ASSISTED LIVING?

Hello, thank you for your contributions to my question. I am a 39 yr. old disabled dialysis patient who is receiving SS benefits, I had to rent out my home in Michigan, because I can no longer physically keep it up. I have a girlfriend who is unemployed, because she has to takes care of her 23 yr. old disabled son full time, and he receives SSI. We are temporarily living with my girlfriend's parents in Rhode Island, which is just not working out for us. What are some opions for us considering we are not married and I own a home? Can we even qualify for any public housing, assisted living, ect...?
