In Maya 11 Iam creatng a sphere (earth) and want to insert a diff. movie on each face...how do I do this?

In maya 11 I'm creaing a sphere (symbolizes the destruction of earth) with a polygon sphere. There are the steps I took R click on sphere - insert new material - lambert - color - file - locate an image file - which I though a .mov file would work but only .jpg file work. Any ideas how this might work?
