Who is better Messi or Pele?

Okay. My brother and I have been fighting about Pele and Messi and whose better. He keeps saying that if messi would go back in time to today's soccer he would smoke them because back then's level of competition was "easier". And that if pele would go to todays soccer as he was back then than he would b on the reserves or subs, or at the very least an average player. My dad has seen both players play and he agrees 100% that if pele would to todays soccer that he would still butt rape everyone. My dad says that johan crouch, maradona, bekenbaur, would b the best of the best today. Anyways, what I am trying to say is that Pele is better and to prove it to him. In peles time, yes probably it was easier to score for a player from today. But for those players back then it was hard for them because that was THEIR level of competition. And todays soccer its hard for TODAYS PLAYERS because its THEIR level of competition. The players from today grow into a type of soccer. The players from back then grew up in their type of soccer. Just that Pele butt raped in HIS level of soccer and DIFFICULTY. and messi cannot do the same in HIS level of soccer and HIS DIFFICULTY. pele did more in his time than messi did today but messis era is not yet over, but he has a long way to beat the king. So who is better? Pele in his time, Messi in his time. Or if they would meet at their own good time who would be better?
