Copying files to disc?

Ok...if I have a wmv, m4v, avi, mov, or other like file (of a video) and want to transfer it to a disc, what kind do I need? I asked the guy at Wal-Mart but they have no idea what I'm talkiing about...as usual. So what disc should I buy to copy these from my computer? I have a Dell Dimension E310 if that helps.
