Video Format Issues with DXG-566V HD Camcorder?

I'm using the DXG-566V HD Camcorder to do a video project for my history class. The camera itself isn't having problems, but I'm having some major issues getting the videos in my editing software (I'm using Sony Vegas Platinum 9.0). I took the videos off directly, and they run fine in VLC player, but I need to get them into the software so I can edit them. They come in an .MOV file and I've tried a few converters but no luck. I need something that will fix this because it's a HUGE project that's worth half my grade. Please help!
